A taxi driver was injured after he was beaten up by a passenger for asking an extra 10 sen (S$0.04).
Harian Metro reported that the passenger also damaged the taxi with a rock.
Taxi driver Mohd Salim Meerdat, 50, said the passenger got into the taxi in Ampang, Selangor at about 6.15pm on Wednesday.
The man, who was with his three-year-old son, asked to be dropped by the roadside after a certain distance.
"I refused because it was not a legal stop and I was afraid of being fined. So I dropped him about 3m away, which was when the meter went up another 10 sen.
"So I asked him to pay RM5.40 (S$2.01) but he gave me RM5.30. When I asked for the remaining 10 sen, he started to swear at me. He then got out, picked up a rock from the roadside and struck the boot of the taxi," he said.
Mohd Salim said he tried to calm him down, telling him to forget about the 10 sen. He claimed the passenger then hit him on the head with a stick several times.
The taxi driver lodged a police report at Ampang police station.
