KUALA LUMPUR - A car salesman was charged with molesting a woman while attempting to rob her in the car park of the Pavilion shopping mall.
Mohd Firdaus Safie, 28, claimed trial in the Sessions Court to using a kerambit or curved knife while attempting to rob a 28-year-old accountant and also to using the weapon to coerce the woman when molesting her.
The offences are alleged to have occurred at the cark park of the mall in Bukit Bintang here at about 8.15pm on Oct 30.
Mohd Firdaus is also charged with robbing a 30-year-old insurance agent of her ATM card, credit card and RM150 (S$58) at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) car park in Jalan Ampang at about 2.15pm that day.
He faces up to 20 years' jail, fine and whipping if convicted for either offence.
Firdaus is also liable to be jailed a maximum of 10 years, fined and whipped, or any of the two punishments, if found guilty of committing outrage of modesty.
Judge Azwarnida Affandi granted RM13,000 bail with one surety for all charges and ordered Firdaus to report to the nearest police station once a month.
She also ordered him not to harass the victims and fixed Dec 6 and Dec 12 for mention of the cases respectively.
