Cargo train jumps off tracks, causes jam in Malaysia
Smooth operation: A crane being used to remove empty cargo containers from a derailed train in Pasir Gudang in Johor.

PASIR GUDANG - A Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) cargo train derailed causing traffic congestions along Jalan Pekeliling here.

It was travelling from Taman Pasir Putih to Pasir Gudang.

The incident happened at around 4am yesterday, said Seri Alam OCPD Supt Abdul Samad Salleh.

About 80 empty cargo containers went off the tracks and onto the road.

"No one was hurt or injured and no public property was damaged," he said in a statement.

Supt Abdul Samad added that policemen were stationed along Jalan Pekeliling to control traffic.

"The road is quite busy as it is an industrial area where heavy vehicles besides cars and motorcycles usually use the route.

"We have to close one section of the road, which is from Johor Baru heading towards Tanjung Langsat Port, to remove the cargo containers," he said.
