Caught on camera: Argument between woman and mall staff turns ugly

JOHOR BAHRU - An argument between a woman and the staff of a Giant supermarket at Pelangi Leisure Mall in Johor Bahru got violent after she was accused of stealing.

A video has been circulating online of the woman refusing to cooperate with the staff, hitting and throwing things at them.

In the video, the woman can be seen shouting and pulling her trolley away after being asked to go to the staff entrance.

A male employee then pulls the trolley towards the back of the store, but the woman then tries to grab a table off the display and throws it at the man.

As another staff intervenes, she heads over to a shelf and throws something at the first employee, who is still trying to get her to the staff entrance.

The video ends with the staff asking his colleague to help restrain her, and they end up dragging the woman away.

Netizens are criticising the staff for the way they restrained the woman, which has sparked off a debate online.

According to some comments left on social media platforms, the staff should have called the mall's security and called a female officer to handle the woman.

However, others pointed out that there was in fact a female security officer at the scene, but she did not do anything.

Some also said that the woman was only creating a scene so that the staff would not take action against her.

A YouTube user, who claims to be the man who escorted the woman out, said that he did indeed lose his patience, but a woman would not have been able to handle her in that aggressive state.

He added that this was the second time she had stolen something, but security did not manage to catch her the first time.

The Giant staff have made a police report and the woman's statement has been taken.
