Caught on camera: Malaysian teen mum tosses baby around violently

SINGAPORE - An online video showing a woman tossing a baby around violently has been confirmed to be from Malaysia.

According to The Malaysian Insider, the video recently went viral in Malaysia, prompting Malaysia police to respond with a statement.

Several Singaporeans have also received the video on phone messaging apps such as WhatsApp. In the video, a woman can be seen tossing, throwing and shaking a baby on a mattress as the baby cries and screams helplessly.

While the viral message says that the woman in the video is an Indonesian domestic helper in Singapore, Malaysian police have confirmed that the video shows a 17-year-old Malaysian woman and her child.

The woman in the video was also seen hitting her child in an earlier video which went viral in April. Malaysian police had identified the woman after the first video went viral, and referred her for counselling.

The child was examined and found to be "in good health", Ipoh police said in a Facebook statement. Police also said that the baby is being monitored by the Welfare Services Department.
