PETALING JAYA - Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Alrmarhum Sultan Iskandar has offered condolences to the families of the victims involved in the tragic Chiang Mai bus crash.

He said he had been informed that the 13 people killed in Sunday's bus crash were Johoreans from Batu Pahat.

"I would like to extend my condolences to their families at this very difficult time, and I hope that the other passengers are able to return home safely, InsyaAllah (God willing)," he said in a Facebook posting on Monday.

The 13 Malaysians were among 22 local passengers on board the bus, which was travelling from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai, when it crashed into another vehicle before falling into a ravine in the 11.30am incident.

Nine other passengers were injured.
