Child killed when dad reverses bulldozer into him

A toddler playing behind a bulldozer died after the vehicle, driven by his father, reversed into him at Kampung Felcra Teratak Batu in Gaal, Pasir Puteh, Kelantan.

In the 3.30pm incident on Friday, two-year-old Muhammad Harris Salihin Roemi died on the spot after sustaining serious head injuries.

The child's body was sent to the Tengku Anis Hospital for a post-mortem before being claimed by his family for burial.

District police chief Deputy Supt Mohd Kamal Zainal said initial investigations showed that the accident had occurred in front of an unnumbered house, where the victim's father was reversing his bulldozer after dumping sand there.

"Not noticing his son behind the machine, the father reversed into him. The left rear tyre of the bulldozer rolled over the boy's head," he told Metro Ahad.

DSP Mohd Kamal said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"I advise families with small children to take precautions to avoid such accidents," he said.
