IPOH: A police corporal's son was gunned down gangland-style on his birthday outside his house in Sungai Siput.
The 28-year-old man, who was unemployed, had just alighted from his car at Taman Tun Sambanthan at about 12.20am yesterday when he was shot at.
Sungai Siput OCPD Superintendent Wan Jamil Wan Chik said the man's father, who is attached to the Khantan Baru police station, told police that he found his son lying on the front porch.
"The victim was getting out of his car to enter the house when he was fired upon several times," he said.
He added that the victim sustained four gunshot wounds on the back of the head, left hand, right shoulder and left cheek.
"Our men found five 9mm bullet casings and two bullets at the scene," Supt Wan Jamil said yesterday.
He added that the victim had just sent his girlfriend home and stopped by a shop to buy food before returning home.
"His father heard gunshots outside the house soon after that," he said, adding that the police are checking on the motive of the attack and the number of assailants involved.
