Cops nab 'drug mules' in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU - Two suspected drug mules who were paid RM10,000 (S$3,777) to carry 7.5kg of syabu with a street value of RM1.05mil were arrested when they landed at the low-cost airport terminal here.

The two, aged 29 and 31, were arrested separately by an anti-narcotics squad shortly after they arrived on an AirAsia flight from Johor Baru on Thursday night. The drugs were found inside boxes packed with tea.

Sabah Anti-Narcotics Investigations Department chief Supt Rahim Dolmat said based on early information, the two suspects had received between RM5,000 and RM10,000 from a peninsular Malaysia-based syndicate to bring the drugs into the state.
