Cops probing botched kidnapping of nine-year-olds

GEORGE TOWN - Police are investigating a report that two nine-year-old schoolgirls escaped a kidnapping after biting their captors in Jalan Masjid Negeri here.

The girls had claimed that three men bundled them into a heavily tinted van while they stood outside their school in Lorong Batu Lancang.

They claimed the captors then tied their hands with rope during the 2pm incident on Thursday.

After travelling for about 1.5km, the girls bit their captors on their hands and managed to alight from the van when it stopped near a bank along the road.

According to information, the girls then ran back to their school before relating the incident to their mothers who are teachers in the school.

Acting George Town OCPD Supt Abd Rahman Ahmad said police needed to verify the kidnapping claim made by the girls.

"We are looking for the white van allegedly used by the captors," he said when contacted yesterday.
