Cortege of petrol station murder victim leaves for Melaka

JOHOR BARU: The hearse carrying an alleged secret society leader who was murdered at a petrol station has left the Nirvana Memorial Centre here for Melaka, where he is to be buried.

A small number of the deceased's friends and family followed behind the hearse as it left the premises.

The deceased, identified only as Ah Chiu, is expected to be buried at the Jelutong Cemetery in Melaka.

On Sunday (Dec 17), the 44-year-old man was savagely attacked by four men at the petrol station along Jalan Sri Pelangi here.

Police have detained a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl to assist with investigations.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on Tuesday (Dec 19) that a fight between two triads was the cause of the brutal murder.

He said police had identified the four assailants and that a manhunt has been launched to nab the suspects.
