KUALA LUMPUR - Air stewardess Sim Yee Lian, an aunt of slain 15-year-old Ng Yuk Tim, has put her job on hold to help the family through the traumatising period.
Sim, who is based in Dubai with Etihad Airways, said she had decided to stay on for a while as she wanted to be with Yuk Tim's mother.
"My compassionate leave has ended but I just could not leave the family behind,'' said Sim, 31, who was supposed to report for work in Dubai earlier this week.
Cosplay enthusiast Yuk Tim was murdered and her body was found in a suitcase on Oct 22. Police have picked up a 23-year-old suspect in connection with the murder.
"All I care about now is getting Yuk Tim's family through this period of grief.
"We are trying our hardest to be strong. No amount of insurance, or justice served, will bring back our Tim Tim. And for that, we will never forgive her killer," she said in between sobs.
Sim said the victim's younger sister, 10-year-old Ee Sian, had so far been brave in handling the situation.
"She is being strong for her mother, and participated in a school-organised event at Kidzania yesterday,'' said Sim.
Ee Sian led the funeral procession on Friday while teary-eyed friends and family followed closely.
Yesterday, the Sim family was visited by the president of Malaysia Community Policing Association Kuan Chee Heng.
Kuan was at the family's Cheras residence to pay his respects and to offer them emotional and financial support.
