KAMPAR: Police have arrested a married couple over the alleged murder of a woman, said to be having an affair with the husband, in Mambang Diawan here.

The body of 28-year-old S. Letchumi was discovered by an elderly man at an oil palm estate in Taman Permai while he was collecting mushrooms at about 2pm on Friday.

OCPD Superintendent Ng Kong Soon said police managed to track down the male suspect at his house while the wife was arrested at the district police headquarters here at about midnight.

Both suspects are aged 46, he added.

"At the moment, we are still investigating the motive for the murder. We have also yet to find any weapons," Supt Ng said, adding that the couple were being remanded for six days until next Thursday.

It was earlier reported that Letchumi's body was found with head wounds and signs of strangulation.

Police also managed to recover her motorcycle in front of a restaurant in Bandar Baru Kampar after finding a key and helmet at the estate.
