Couple forced to serve roti canai at wedding

A couple's big day was ruined when the catering company failed to deliver the food in time for the wedding reception.

Guests ended up being served roti canai and mixed rice, Harian Metro reported.

"My husband and I only had mixed vegetables and salted fish to eat on our big day," said the bride, Hawa Nazira Faidul Alwi.

She said the catering company, which promised to deliver food and the wedding cake at 9am last Saturday only turned up at 2.45pm when the guests had already left.

She said the family went to Batu Pahat to query as to why the food was delivered late and found out that the company hired school-leavers as drivers, who did not possess driving licences.

The lorry also had an expired road tax.

"My family members stopped the lorry while we waited for the manager to show up.

"We had already paid RM8,400 (S$3,272) to the caterers," said Hawa.

Following the incident, she said the manager of the company had refused to answer her calls and its office number in Batu Pahat was no longer in operation.
