Couple killed in accident on Ipoh-Lumut highway

IPOH, Malaysia - A couple was killed while their three children were seriously injured after their vehicle collided with another car at KM13.5 of the Ipoh - Lumut Highway early Saturday morning.

The dead have been identified as self employed Sulaiman Isa, 60, and his wife Siti Nur Ibrahim, 49.

Their three children Hafizah Sulaiman, 20, Hasmira, 19 and 10-year-old Muhamad Mizzuddin were sent to the Batu Gajah hospital for treatment.

The driver and the passenger of the other car G. Gobinathan, 28, and S. Ganapathy, 27 were also seriously injured and were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.

Batu Gajah OCPD ACP Mohd Nasri Omar said the accident is believed to have occurred at about 12.15am.

He said Sulaiman was heading from Ipoh to Parit when they collided with the other car in the opposite direction. The other car was overtaking another vehicle at the time.

"Sulaiman and his wife we trapped in their seats, and were believe to have died at the scene.

"The post mortem will be carried out today at the Batu Gajah hospital," he said.
