Court to hear four Perak polls petitions later this month

Batu Gajah - The High Court here has fixed July 25 to hear the petition on the Manjoi state seat 13th General Election results.

Judge Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim had allowed the respondents, the Election Commission and the petitioner to file their notice of objection for the case by tomorrow.

Barisan Nasional's Mohamad Ziad Mohamed Zainal Abidin won the Manjoi state with 132 votes over PAS candidate Asmuni Awi.

Abang Iskandar has also set July 29 to hear one petition on the Manong state seat and two election petitions on the Pasir Panjang state seat, with the notices of objection to be filed by Thursday.

Barisan's Mohamad Kamil Shafie won the Manong state seat with 231 votes over Jamil Dzulkarnain of PAS.

For the Pasir Panjang state seat, Barisan's Rashidi Ibrahim won with 304 votes over Rohawati Abidin of PAS and independent candidate S. Vijayan.

The four petitions were part of the 11 which had been filed by Perak PAS and PKR in order to challenge the results in two parliamentary and six state seats.
