KOTA KINABALU, Malaysia - A doctor died following a freak accident outside his house in Tawau.
Dr Siau Tan Mui, 68, was believed to have been run over by his own vehicle after he forgot to pull the hand brakes while stopping to open his gate to enter his house at about 4am yesterday.
The car, parked along the downhill road beside his house, had moved straight into the man, crushing him.
It is also believed that Dr Siau had tried to stop the vehicle from moving forward by blocking it but was run over instead.
Tawau district police chief Assist Comm Awang Besar Dullah confirmed the incident.
In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old woman identified as Ng May Jean fell to her death from the fifth floor of the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan in Pahang.
Passers-by heard a loud thud and found the woman sprawled on the ground at about 10am.
They alerted the authorities who rushed her to the emergency unit but she died from head and body injuries.
Kuantan police chief Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Salleh said initial investigations did not show foul play and the case had been classified as sudden death.
