DPP arrested in 1MDB probe

PETALING JAYA: A deputy public prosecutor has been arrested over matters related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) investigation.

A source in the special taskforce said that the DPP worked for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) but had been seconded to the Attorney-General's Chambers for "several years".

He was picked up at his home after midnight on Saturday.

The suspect in question, said the source, worked mainly on corruption cases and had also prosecuted several individuals related to the probe, including a 48-year-old managing director of a 1MDB-linked company.

Police have refused of confirm or deny the latest arrest.

The suspect is the third person hauled up over the weekend, following the arrest of a former MACC adviser and an AG's Chambers officer.
