KUALA LUMPUR - While most people tend to think of remote control (RC) cars as a hobby for children, Phillihp Siow thinks otherwise.
"RC cars are largely misunderstood. People think that this is simply for kids but they are wrong.
"You can learn a lot from RC cars. First, you have to understand how the RC car performs under different circuits. Then, you have to make the necessary adjustments for it to run optimally.
"It also improves your precision and accuracy skills as you have to think and react fast. And it's a great stress reliever too," said Siow, who is manning the Tamiya grounds along with his crew at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2013 (KLIMS13).
RC cars will be whizzing by with stealth and precision during the finals of the Tamiya Underground Race Event, which is set to take place on the last day of KLIMS13 on Nov 24.
All the hot RC action will be held at the mezzanine floor of Hall One, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here.
Practice sessions started with a bang on Friday and the qualifying session will be held on Nov 23.
The race is divided into four categories: the RC Race, the Drift Race, the RC Mini Z Race and the Mini 4WD Race.
Siow said those interested in taking part in the event would need to register at Tamiya Underground, Basement 2, 1Utama Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya before Nov 22.
Siow and his crew will also be on hand at the Tamiya grounds at PWTC throughout the event to answer any queries from the public regarding RC cars.
