KUCHING - Former Sarawak Tribune editor Lester Melanyi stands by his story although questions have been raised about his credibility, including that he was a liar and in debt.

"Only God knows whether I am credible or not and He can judge me for it," Lester told The Star yesterday as he defended his expose of the alleged plot to falsify information on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

On being called a "debtor" by Sarawak Report founder and editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown, he retorted: "I'm not surprised she said that. She can easily check people's accounts."

On claims that he was lying, Lester said: "Let's see who is the worst at the end of the day."

A video confession by Lester had been uploaded on YouTube on Wednesday, in which he alleged that several Opposition leaders had conspired with Sarawak Report to forge 1MDB documents and tarnish Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's reputation.
