ROMPIN, Pahang - Some 300 orang asli households in Kampung Lepas near here have reason to cheer as they will be getting additional income soon from a nearby oil palm plantation.

Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said the sale of oil palm produce from the 809.3ha plantation located near the village would be given to them to lessen their burden.

"This is based on a profit-sharing basis that will benefit the villagers.

"We are aware of their hardship and will continue to look after their well-being," he said after visiting the village.

On the by-election, Adnan said: "I urge the Rompin people to vote for continuity and think carefully before entering the polling centre."

The crowd was in stitches when he continued: "I am not forcing you all to vote for Barisan Nasional but just don't cross PAS."

Adnan said Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin was the right man to represent Rompin and had shown it by raising concerns of the second generation of Felda settlers.

"Don't just express support for Barisan and stay at home. It is important to come out just for a short while and vote," he added.

During the event, Pelaburan Mara Berhad donated RM15,000 worth of computer equipment to SK Muadzam Jaya and gave contributions to the poor and single mothers.

Its chairman Datuk Sohaimin Shahadan said the computers would enable the pupils to learn IT skills and be on par with their peers in urban areas.
