PETALING JAYA - A social media post alleging that the Sultan of Brunei donated US$1bil (S$1.3 billion) to help boost the Malaysian economy is fake.

The news that Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah contributed US$1bil to the Malaysian government was false, according to the Mukhriz Mahathir FC Facebook page.

On Tuesday morning the Facebook account, which is not Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir's official page, had earlier posted a picture of the Sultan visiting to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Monday.
