Family fears missing teen may have run off with FB friend

PETALING JAYA - A 17-year-old girl from Kampung Sentosa Paroi in Seremban has been missing since Thursday, with family members fearing that she may have run off with a man she met on Facebook.

Rabiatul Adawiyah, 25, said she last saw her sister Nur Emira Syakila Jalaludin (pic) at 3pm on Aug 15 after she said she was going for a walk around the house compound.

Although she took her handphone with her, Nur Emira, last seen dressed in a black shirt and grey track pants, left her purse and identification card behind.

"We noticed she was missing when my father came back at around 5pm and we couldn't find her around the neighbourhood. He tried calling her phone but it was switched off.

"We went around the village the whole night looking for her but no one has seen her. Her friends said she did not mention anything about running away," said Rabiatul.

She added that her sister, who is the second youngest of four sisters, was a quiet person who kept to herself but suspected that she had a relationship with someone on Facebook.

"I do not know for sure as she never talks about her life with us or her friends. None of us are on her list of friends on Facebook.

"We just want her to know that we are not angry with her and want her back home.

"My mother and elder sister have fallen sick worrying about her," she said.

The family lodged a police report at the Seremban police headquarters, and had received news that Nur Emira was seen in Kota Damansara and Bukit Jelutong recently.

Anyone with information on Nur Emira's whereabouts should contact Rabiatul at 017-616 7207 or Jalaludin Md Som at 019-652 4749.
