BENTONG, Malaysia - An army clerk couple and their two-year-old daughter were killed in a horrific crash along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway.

Bentong deputy OCPD DSP Supt Wan Azharudin Wan Ismail said the accident occurred around 6.50am yesterday.

He said Kpl Jiman Raup, 32, and Kpl Nik Zaieyahaliza Ya, 29, and daughter Nurul Damia were travelling in a Perodua Alza towards Kuala Lumpur when it skidded and rammed through the centre divider before colliding head on with a tanker along KM49 of the highway.

"They died on the spot from severe multiple injuries," he said, adding that the bodies were brought to the Bentong Hospital for post-mortem.

DSP Wan Azharudin said the post-mortem results showed that Kpl Nik Zaieyahaliza was two months pregnant.

When met at the Bentong Hospital mortuary, their colleagues said both were friendly and hardworking.

Kpl Jiman was with the Royal Military College while his wife was with the music training centre at the Sg Besi Army Base.

Kpl Nik Zaieyahaliza's cousin Asliza Abdullah said she was still in shock over the accident.

"They were very excited to be expecting another child. The last I saw them was at a relative's house to break fast during the fasting month this year," she said.

Asliza said the couple had gone back to Kpl Nik Zaieyahaliza's hometown in Jerteh, Terengganu to spend time with her family on Saturday.

"She wanted to spend time with her family this Hari Raya Aidil Adha as they went to Sabah to spend time with her husband's family during Hari Raya Aidil Fitri," Asliza said.
