Fans in China rally behind shuttler Chong Wei

BEIJING - Badminton fans in China are rallying behind Datuk Lee Chong Wei who has been implicated in a doping scandal.

On Weibo, China's microblogging platform, users voiced their support for Chong Wei on his official account, which was last updated in June.

User @cpuadsl commented: "I don't believe Chong Wei will do so. This must be a misunderstanding."

@shuxiansheng expressed his confidence in the 32-year-old shuttler and urged him to keep going.

Many others offered their words of encouragement to Chong Wei, reassuring him that he was not alone.

They used the Chinese term "jia you", literally "add oil," to remind Chong Wei not to give up.

"Jia you! I will like you as usual no matter that! Hope you can stand up again!" @tiantiantianlanhi said.

"Jia you! It is an enjoyment to watch you squaring off against Lin Dan every time. I hope we will still see you in future tournaments. You are the best," another user @suiyuan--999 commented.

"Lee Chong Wei, jia you. We believe in you," @heyiyilan said.

Chong Wei, 32, was believed to have failed a doping test during the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, in August.

He left for Oslo, Norway, on Monday night to find out the result of his B sample.
