A HAWKER, upset that his fireworks at a market in Bukit Mertajam were seized by the Seberang Prai Municipal Council, wrote insulting words on his shirt as a sign of protest, China Press reported.
The fireworks were confiscated by council enforcement officers during a raid at the market.
The man pleaded with the officers not to seize his merchandise but to no avail.
Frustrated, he used a red pen to write insulting words against councillor Michael Tan on his shirt.
The photograph of the hawker wearing the shirt later went viral online.
Tan claimed that the hawker did not have a licence to sell fireworks, adding: "MPSP will continue taking action against illegal hawkers."
