PETALING JAYA- Malaysia will be the first country in the world to have an online sale organised by a government with the #MYCyberSALE that offers deals with up to 90 per cent in discounts.
The sale, which has products ranging from flight tickets to fashion, is the latest effort by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) under the Digital Malaysia initiative.
Online shoppers will be able to choose from over 225,000 deals from 4,500 merchants when it takes place from Sept 29 until Oct 1.
Among the retailers taking part are Groupon, AirAsia, Zalora, Lazada, Rakuten and Malaysia Airlines.
The sale will be unveiled by MDeC chief executive officer Datuk Yasmin Mahmood in a media briefing today.
When the promotion begins, shoppers will be able to browse through the deals at www.mycybersale.my.
The online sale will also be promoted over 230 e-marketplaces or e-commerce websites.
The #MYCyberSALE will serve as a catalyst to develop the e-commerce industry and boost an online shopping culture among Malaysians.
The initiative, endorsed by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry and related agencies, is supported by industry players including Golden Screen Cinemas, Telekom Malaysia and CIMB.
