Five missing Malaysian trekkers found

PETALING JAYA - The five hikers who went missing while trekking up Wawasan Hill in Puchong have been found.

The trekkers reportedly went missing at about 9pm Friday.

Fire and Rescue personnel said the group, consisting of three men, in their 30s, and two women, aged 30 and 52, were found safe in Saujana Puchong at around 5am Saturday.

Among those involved in the search and rescue mission were 12 firefighters, four police officers, 10 community policing members and concerned citizens.

Selangor Community Policing Association chief Kuan Chee Heng, who also joined the search and rescue (SAR) mission from Friday night until early Saturday, extended his gratitude to the rescuers involved.

"Thanks to those who tracked for hours in the pitch darkness to search for the hikers," reads his Facebook status update.
