Five-year-old falls to his death from sixth floor

PETALING JAYA - A five-year-old boy, who was playing a game of chase with his older brother, fell through a gap in an iron railing to his death from the sixth floor of his home in Kota Damansara here.

Muhammad Hazriq Danish Ain Alden was playing in the corridor outside his People's Housing Projects (PPR) flat unit in Section 8 when he fell through the gap at 3.18pm yesterday.

An ambulance rushed the boy to the Sungai Buloh Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His mother, Nur Safura Sahara Mohamad, 35, said she was preparing lunch for the family when her seven-year-old son, Muhammad Zulhaikal, suddenly barged into the kitchen.

"He told me that Muhammad Hazriq had fallen through the railing. My legs became weak when I saw his lifeless body sprawled on the ground," she said in between tears.

The remains of the youngest of five siblings was buried in Section 9, Kota Damansara, last night.

District police chief Asst Comm Azmi Abu Kassim confirmed the case.

Security guard Zarina Johan, 52, said she heard a loud thud on the ground floor of the PPR block.

"I thought someone had thrown a large pile of rubbish from an upper floor. I was shocked to see the body of a boy lying on the ground," she said.
