Floods: 36 evacuated in Kuala Krai, situation expected to worsen in Kelantan
Flooding in Malaysia has caused shops to close and forced residents to evacuate to relief centres.

KOTA BARU - Thirty-six people from 11 families were the first to be evacuated from their homes after floods lashed the Kuala Krai district late Monday.

According to the eBanjir portal, the families from Mengkebang were relocated to the district's veterinary office at 7pm.

The number of flood victims was expected to increase Tuesday due to the incessant heavy rains.

The portal also reported that water levels for five rivers statewide breached the warning mark.

Heavy rains in the southern districts namely in Gua Musang, Kuala Krai and Machang are expected to cause flooding in several areas like Pasir Mas, Tumpat and here on Tuesday.
