KUCHING - Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah said food products worth RM62,845 (S$24,248) have been distributed to 8,454 flood victims throughout the state. As of 11am, the total victims affected from 1,436 families in 50 areas where the road access has been cut off due to heavy rainfall.
"Miri has the highest victims. Of the total, 7,300 victims from 33 areas in Miri involved food products worth RM50,000," Fatimah said.
She added food products transported to the victims by Sarawak's Civil Defence Department (JPAM) and Fire and Rescue Department.
Meanwhile, JPAM Director Civil Defence (CD) Colonel Mat Zin Bujang said they have dispatched 72 personnel and 27 units vehicle included ambulances, four-wheel drive, boats and truck to assist the flood throughout the state in the past four days.
