Foreign worker loses head in freak accident

BALIK PULAU: A Myanmar worker was decapitated in a construction site mishap in Bayan Baru.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan said the 26-year-old victim was trying to tie a wire cable to a crane when he got entangled during the 12.15pm incident yesterday.

“The crane operator was unaware of this and moved the machine, resulting in the wire slicing his neck.

“He died on the spot,” he said.

Supt Anbalagan said they had contacted the Myanmar Embassy in Malaysia and the United Nation’s High Commissioner for Refugees.
