Former deputy education minister scares off robber at home

Former deputy education minister Datuk Hon Choon Kim scared off a robber with a gun at his house in Seremban, major Chinese dailies reported.

Hon, who was in his bedroom, took out his gun when he heard his 20-year-old maid scream for help at about 10am on Thursday, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The robber, who was in the living room, tried to attack Hon with a parang.

However, the suspect and his accomplice fled after seeing Hon armed with the gun.

According to the maid, the two robbers sneaked into the compound while she was in the garden.

One of them, she said, then grabbed and pushed her into the house.

Hon's wife Datin Lee Siew Kian and his daughter, who were in the house during the attempted robbery, also escaped unhurt.
