KUALA LUMPUR - Former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has received an invitation to attend the Bersih 4 rally this weekend.

Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) Youth delivered the invitation at Muhyiddin's house in Bukit Damansara, here, at 11.30am on Wednesday.

The invitation was dropped into his letterbox as Muhyiddin was overseas.

"We hope that Tan Sri Muhyiddin will join the public during the rally on the 29th and 30th," said GHB Youth chief Sany Hamzan.

According to GHB Youth, as of now, Muhyiddin is the only Umno leader given an official invitation.

Organisers said that the Bersih 4.0 overnight rally will take place on Aug 29 and 30 despite being declared illegal.

On Tuesday, the police said that the rally was illegal as the organisers have "failed to issue a complete notice to the police".

The complete notice, which included a detailed plan of the routes and venues that would be used, would allow police to facilitate the rally.

According to the police, the organisers failed to submit the notice after the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) rejected their applications to use Dataran Merdeka and Padang Merbok as venues.

GHB is a PAS splinter group formed after the controversial 2015 party muktamar and consists of mostly PAS progressives and professionals.

Although still an NGO, GHB is expected to launch as a political party under the name Amanah soon. They are also expected to continue their political affiliation with DAP and PKR.
