Gang logos painted on road in Penang's residential area

GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia - Images resembling gang logos have been found painted on the road in Jalan Delima, Island Glades, here.

A businessman from Kuala Lumpur who wished to be known only as Wu, said he was in the area to attend a friend's funeral and was waiting at a traffic light junction when he spotted the images.

"I initially thought they were kolam (art using rice, sago or flour). But when I took a closer look, there were swastikas and designs resembling the gang logos I saw in the newspapers.

"If they are really gang logos, then it is quite worrying as it could be the members blatantly showing their influence there.

"This is also a residential area and I hope the police will look into this," he said yesterday.

A check by The Star showed that the main image resembled a ball of fire with blue arrows shooting out.

There were also small bubbles with the swastikas and also one with the number "4" surrounding the main image.

George Town deputy OCPD Supt Ismail Toh Paduka Idris said the police will look into the matter.
