Grandma saves baby from mum

A grandmother fled with her grandchild in her arms in a bid to save the baby from his knife-wielding mother, reported Harian Metro.

The 30-year-old woman, who ran amok and attempted to hack her husband with a machete at their home in Jinjang Utara, Kuala Lumpur, is believed to be suffering from postpartum depression.

Neighbours who came to the grandmother's aid also tried to enter the house to help the husband but were thwarted when the woman threatened to kill him.

One of the neighbours, Muhammad Akhmal Zabri, 24, said he heard the husband shouting at the grandmother to escape with the baby.

"The woman then threatened to kill her husband if the baby was not returned to her," he said, adding that police arrived just in time to take the woman to a nearby station.
