Grocery receipt brings trader $4 million

KUALA LUMPUR - A businessman struck it rich - thanks to a grocery receipt, and a cascading system.

The 60-something businessman from Miri, Sarawak, took home RM11 million (S$4 million) after winning the Magnum 4D Jackpot second prize with his winning numbers - 0444 (first prize) and 8706 (special prize) - coming from the receipt.

He said he would be taking his wife on a holiday and expanding his business with the winnings.

"I will also be donating some of the cash to charity," he said after hitting the jackpot on Sept 25.

A spokesman for Magnum said this was a big deal as the winnings via the cascading feature is rare.

The cascading feature kicks in when the main Jackpot prize exceeds RM30 million.

Any amount in excess of RM20 million is then added to the Jackpot second prize.

The main Jackpot prize is if someone gets two of the first three winning numbers right.
