Haze: Schools in several Malaysian states to close on Monday

PETALING JAYA - Schools in several states will close on Monday (Oct 19) due to the worsening haze, according to the Education Minister.

Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid announced that schools in Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur as well as three areas in Sarawak including Tawau, Kuching and Samarahan, will be closed on Monday.

He posted the announcement on his Facebook page as well as on his Twitter account.

However, Mahdzir said that the Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) and Kolej Vokasional examinations will continue under Ops Topeng.

He added that the ministry will issue a statement soon.
