Headless find stuns fishermen

Two fishermen, who were gathering discarded bottles along a beach in Rompin, Pahang, were shocked to stumble upon a headless body.

Sungai Meranti villagers Mohd Sharif Kupa, 47, and Dolah Mat, 48, said it was their morning routine to walk along the beach at Pantai Batu 6, Janglau, to pick up the bottles that had been washed ashore.

"We never expected this," Mohd Sharif told Sinar Harian of their gruesome find at around 8am on Wednesday.

"We were about to walk back to our motorcycle with a barrel of empty bottles when we saw it.

"From afar we could see what looked like a corpse. We were stunned when we got nearer to find the head missing," he said.

The two friends immediately called the police.

Rompin OCPD Deputy Supt Johari Jahaya said the victim, believed to be in his 20s, was in a pair of shorts and a T-shirt that bore the name "Muhd Ikhmal Danial".

The almost-decomposed body was taken to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for a post-mortem.
