A homestay operator in Kota Baru has turned his two living quarters into a temporary shelter for 50 flood evacuees, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The evacuees, who included a pregnant woman and a six-month-old baby, came from seven families, said operator Noor Ahmad Mailki Mohd Noor.
"They have no money with them and they needed a place to stay as their homes have been destroyed by the floods. The baby was having high fever when they came to my homestay.
"Luckily, we managed to send him to the hospital on time," said Noor Ahmad, adding that he had also provided the evacuees with food and clothes.
Noor Ahmad also thanked volunteers who had sent essential supplies to the evacuees at his homestay.
