Hotel staff found raped, murdered

GOMBAK - A hotel housekeeping staff was raped and murdered in her house in Sunway Batu Caves here yesterday.

Victim Badariah Hussin, 44, was found half naked in a pool of blood by her friends when they went to check on her about 5pm.

Police sources said a team of officers was dispatched to the scene after people found the victim, clad only in a baju kurung top, in front of a room in the house.

The victim's hands were tied with a piece of cloth and positioned above her head.

"Her legs were also tied. Police believed she was raped by her assailant before she was murdered.

"The victim was stabbed in the stomach," said a source.

The source said police believed the suspect might be someone known to the victim.

Her belongings, including her wallet, was found at the scene.

A friend of the victim, Rosnita Ishak, 33, when met at the scene, said she last met the victim at 6.40am yesterday.

She said they went for sahur together, before the victim sent her to a bus stop in Greenwood nearby.

It was learnt that the friend who found Badariah's body had gone to her house about 1pm, as they had promised to visit another friend in hospital together.

When the victim did not answer her phone calls and did not open her door, she went to pick up another friend before returning to the location.

The friends then got the help of a mechanic in a workshop nearby to force open the victim's house door, before they made the discovery.

The victim's uncle, who declined to be named, said Badariah had worked as the hotel for more than 20 years.

He said the victim, from Felda Lakum in Lanchang, Pahang, only returned to the house during her off days.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abdullah confirmed the incident.
