Hubby uses pestle to smash wife's nose

KAJANG, Malaysia - A young mother who gave birth two months ago suffered a broken nose after she was assaulted by her husband for not answering his phone call.

In the incident on Tuesday, the 26-year-old woman was beaten up by her husband at their house in Taman Damai Indah near here with a pestle because he claimed she had been disrespectful towards him for not picking up the phone when he called her.

In the 10pm incident, the man who had just come home accused his wife of turning a deaf ear but she told him that she did not hear the phone ring.

"Enraged, he picked up a pestle and hit her with it," said a source, adding that apart from a broken nose, the victim who gave birth two months ago also suffered other injuries on her body.

"She lodged a report and the husband was picked up by police to facilitate investigations."

The man is now being investigated for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
