'I have proof of election fraud'

KUALA LUMPUR - A representative of a PKR deputy presidential hopeful has claimed electoral fraud took place at the Gombak polling station yesterday.

Salmah Abdul Rasit, 57, said that one of the PKR election committee workers had voted in place of a member in full view of others.

She also claimed that several unknown people, whom she believed to be outsiders, also did the same at the polling station.

"Such a practice is questionable. How can you allow other people to vote in for you? I have the evidence to be forwarded to the election committee.

"I am ready to lodge a formal complaint," Salmah, who is also the Gombak Utara PKR information chief.

However, when contacted, election committee director Datuk Johari Abdul said under the party election regulation, it was permissible for the disabled, illiterate or senior citizens to receive help in filling the ballot papers.

"It is stipulated under the election regulation. He or she can ask help from anyone, including those who are not party members.

"If a member is not able to fill the ballot paper by himself due to any form of disability, he can the right to ask for help from others."
