JOHOR BARU - The Johor Baru shopping scene is set to become more exciting with the opening of Ikea Tebrau this month.
Swedish furniture chain Ikea opened its doors to the public on Nov 16.
This would be its third store in Malaysia and the largest in South-East Asia at 46,731sqm.
Its South-East Asia retail director Mike King is optimistic Ikea Tebrau would do well.
"It is a great time to open a store in the south of Malaysia now and we look forward to an even better year next year with three stores in the country," he said.
King said Ikea Tebrau is in response to demand for affordable and quality furniture and expects the store to be accessible to some 1.8 million people living within a 60-minute drive from the outlet located in Desa Tebrau.
When Ikea Tebrau opens, customers would be able to enjoy over 8,000 home furnishing products and get home decor inspiration from 54 showrooms.
The outlet would also be equipped with 1,771 parking bays and a 750-seat Ikea restaurant where patrons can sample their signature Swedish meatballs after a day of shopping.
