Indian officials find gold bars on passenger arriving from KL

Customs officials seized 4kg of gold bars and wafers from a passenger on a Kuala Lumpur-Tiruchi flight at the Indian airport on Sunday, Tamil Nesan reported.

They found 2kg of gold, which was in a rectangular-shaped packet taped to the passenger's hand luggage, during a screening procedure.

After detaining the passenger, the officials conducted a search and found a gold bar and eight gold wafers inside a purse, hidden under a flush tank in a toilet cubicle near the immigration area.

A few days ago, officials also found three gold bars weighing 3kg abandoned inside the airport toilet.

The three bars were wrapped in white tape and placed on the window.
