BUKIT MERTAJAM - The 21-year-old Indonesian maid who was allegedly abused by a pair of siblings in Taman Kota Permai has died.

The victim passed away at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital where she was warded after her employers took her to the police station on Saturday night.

The victim, identified as Adelina from Medan, Indonesia, came to Malaysia to work about two years ago.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police have detained the suspects, a 36-year-old woman and her 39-year-old brother.

"Adelina was from Medan, Indonesia, and she came here to work about two years ago.

"There was swelling on her head and face as well as injuries on her arms and legs.

"Attempts to record her statement when she was still alive were not successful as she was still in fear.

"We sent here to Bukit Mertajam Hospital where she died," said ACP Nik Ros.

The two suspects have been remanded until Feb 14 to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
