Johor Bahru introduces monthly car-free day

JOHOR BARU - The Johor Baru City Council has stepped up its effort to ease traffic congestion in the city centre with the introduction of a monthly Car-Free Day starting this month.

Mayor Datuk Abdul Rahman Mohamed Dewam said traffic jams within the city area had become notoriously bad due to the high volume of vehicles, especially cars, travelling into or from the city.

He attributed the steady increase in traffic and population to the massive development projects taking place in Iskandar Malaysia and the huge number of investment pouring into the corridor.
