JOHOR BARU - A retired couple in Taman Universiti, Skudai, are having sleepless nights.

Ho Yueh Hai, 56, said he did not feel safe in his own home after two men climbed into his front porch from an abandoned house next door in Jalan Penyiaran 3 on July 13.

"One of them started some small talk with me over the fence and asked if he could pet my dog.

"As I squatted down to carry my dog, I heard my wife, who was inside our house, shouting that I should quickly get in as the man was climbing over the fence," he told a press conference here on Sunday.

Ho said he managed to rush into the house and locked the front grille before the man, joined by another, climbed into his porch.

"We were petrified and the men only left after my wife threatened to call the police," he added.

A police report had been lodged. The couple's house was previously broken in twice before the incident.

Unknown men have been reportedly going in and out of the abandoned house for the past seven years.
