KUALA LUMPU - Law is his name and he has promised to enforce it - this is the pledge of the new City deputy police chief.
Deputy Comm Datuk Law Hong Soon has taken over the post from Deputy Comm Datuk Amar Singh, who has been transferred to the federal police headquarters Bukit Aman as CID deputy director (investigation and law).
DCP Law said he was happy to be back serving in the peninsula after spending more than six years with the Sarawak police.
He was excited to work with City police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh whom he had worked with in Sarawak as well, he told reporters at the City police headquarters yesterday.
SDCP Mohmad said: "We look forward to working with DCP Law again and we feel that the combination is a good one. I have no doubt that he is more than capable to handle the job here."
DCP Amar said he was fortunate to serve three years as the city's deputy chief.
"I had the pleasure of working with three police chiefs during my time here, Deputy Comm Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman, Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah and SDCP Mohmad," he said.
"I must add that I am happy to hand over my duties to DCP Law who is a good friend of mine."
In an unrelated matter, SDCP Mohmad officially took over the new City police headquarters' 13-storey building from its developer Pembinaan BLT Sdn Bhd.
"The logistics, management, internal security and public order, as well as my office and the deputy police chief's office will be moved to the new building," he said.
The Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, Commercial Crime Investigation Department, and Crime Investigation Department will remain in the current building.
