PETALING JAYA, Malaysia - PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has told members of Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (PasMa) that they are free to leave the party if they are unhappy with it.
Hadi, who likened political parties to ships, said that PasMa was drilling holes in the PAS vessel.
"If you feel it is too difficult (being with PAS), go to your preferred ship that you feel can reach your destination faster.
"Go to the DAP ship, the PKR ship, or if you want to get quicker still to Putrajaya, go to the Umno ship," Hadi said in a posting on Harakahdaily yesterday.
PasMa, which was set up by PAS members said to be aligned to PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was reported to have stressed that it would not be dissolved despite pressure to do so.
Hadi said that there was no question of clashes between the ulama and professionals within PAS because the party accepted all who struggled for the Islamic cause.
"PAS celebrates diversity of thought but it must be based on Islamic law," he added.
